Abe Lincoln Quote

"Let no feeling of discouragement prey
upon you, and in the end you
are sure to succeed."
- Abraham Lincoln

I saw this on my igoogle.com homepage today...really nice words to remember. They made me smile as I was taking a break from trying to get a handle on all the things I want to get done before I start my new job and was feeling a little discouraged.

Smile!

Over the Rainbow Movie

Over the Rainbow Movie: Every time I listen to this young man sing this song...I'm blown away by the range of emotions that race through me. His voice combined with the powerful words carry me away and everything just feels right. I'm sharing it with you today because I think it will do the same for you! Sit back, relax, breathe and allow yourself to be swept away for the next 3 minutes. You'll be glad you did! If you enjoyed it – Pass it on to others as I have to you!

The link above is a youtube video. This is my absolute favorite rendition of this song. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole "Iz" had an amazing voice that brings such feeling to the song. Enjoy!

Don't Put Off Living the Life You Want

This little gem arrived in an email from SparkPeople.com this morning and I thought it was lovely. Something to remember for the next 2 days off from work.

Don't put off living the life you want

There is no lesson for today. You have permission to stop thinking for a moment and just enjoy yourself. Stop looking at your computer right now and go look at the world. Rediscover the natural wonders that you walk past every day. How can there possibly be that many shades of green? Let your mind be grateful for a break. Don't think, don't strain. Let the memories of loved ones remind you of your favorite times. Close your eyes and try to smell the sunshine. Listen to your heart beat in your ears. If it's raining, smile at the thought of the flowers that will soon follow. If you're surrounded by buildings, celebrate the creative genius of human beings. See the hope, the alarm, the love, the grief in faces that stream by. Thank whomever you'd like to thank for the chance to even be here. For a moment today, don't worry about being better. Just be.

This photo was taken when I was in Huntington Beach a year or two ago. It's part of the Surfer's Hall of Fame. A ceremony is held every year during the US Open of Surfing to induct some of the world’s greatest surfers into the Surfer's Hall of Fame. Handprints, footprints and signatures are engrained into a cement sidewalk in front of Huntington Surf and Sport. The famed, bronzed statue of the Father of Surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, also stands here. There are lots of them there and it's really fun to read their sentiments regarding life.

Have a glorious smiling day!

Leadership Insight From Science: The Heart Holds Great Sway

Good Morning! It's cool outside - I am loving this fall weather.

I came across this book - Lead From The Heart - a short time ago and have been intrigued by the whole concept. Presently working in a job that has had it's challenges I know see that this is maybe something that is missing. I will be getting this book asap so I see/learn a better way to interact with people and other employees. I being someone who feels things deeply I guess this just hits a chord with me and brings hope to how working for someone else can be and if nothing else maybe I can spread a little heart wherever I go.
